Bahira's Blends & Brews

Out of her skills as a chef, Bahira has created two culinary ingredients which are available in Bahira's Corner at The Pink City Shopping Emporium in Mountian View, CA.  Her special blend of Ceylon Curry Powder ($3.00 3 oz jar) can be used to spice up your stew, rice or vegetables and Bahira's Orange Blossom Syrup  & Rose Blossom Syrup ($6.00 6 oz bottle) can be drizzle over ice cream, baklava or Moroccan orange salad.  Check out the recipes below.

RECIPES:

 

Bahira's Easy Curry Stew

    Brown 1 lb cubed or ground meat (lamb, chicken, beef or pork) in 1 tbs peanut oil.  Add 1 yellow onion, sliced and chopped garlic to taste.  Add one can regular or lite coconut milk, 1 tbsp tomato paste and 1 tsp BAHIRA's Blend Ceylon Curry Powder.   Simmer for 45 minutes.   Add salt and pepper to taste and more BAHIRA's Blend, if desired.  Add bite-size fresh or frozen vegetables of your choice and simmer 15 minutes more.  Serve over steamed basmati rice or couscous garnishing with fresh cilantro, peanuts & plain yogurt.

 

Bahira's Moroccan Orange Salad   

Cut off the peel & pith from 8 seedless navel oranges.  Slice each orange into 6-7 wheels and overlap slices attractively on a plate.  Dust with cinnamon and chiffonade of mint leaves.  Drizzle Bahira's Orange Blossom Syrup over slices and serve.
